Aviation Organizations

In the aviation industry it is recommended to belong to a certain organizations or even multiple organizations whether you decide to either go fly for the airlines, work on the management side, being a mechanic or any other job that interests you. My ultimate goal is to be able to fly for the legacy carriers and go international to see what this world has to offer. I believe that the Airports Council International (ACI) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The Airports Council International (ACI) was created in 1991 having their headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland that comprised of 1,400 airports in 168 countries and territories. Their main purpose in this organization is to promote cooperation with members and other partners in the world to create a safe, efficient and secure environment for their passengers. They are a non-profit organization and hold meetings in the regions that they cover. The International Air Transport Association however mainly focuses on the airlines and the international travel they experience. Their main goal is to cooperate in order to offer a seamless, high standard service to customers and even cargo. They ensure that wherever the airplane is going, they will be able to move through the global network as if they were a single airline to a certain country.

I believe that its important for me to be a part of these organizations because the aviation industry spans different areas of the world and is a way to experience different people's cultures. Another reason would be ensuring a safe environment to customers. With all of the airlines in the media mostly being negative, it is our job as pilots, air traffic controllers, flight attendants, and management to make sure we listen to the passengers so that these mistakes will not happen again. It is also so that these people will fly with our airlines again in the near future.

  1. Your choices of organizations to investigate seem well suited to your goals in aviation. I hadn't heard of the International Air Transport Association before reading your post but I will definitely be looking them up as well. Thanks for the insight into some new organizations and expanding our exposure to the industry and community.
